[Standing Committee/Students Selected by their High School Campuses]
The Board & Superintendent Student Advisory Panel was created in 2017 to expand opportunities for student voice to be included in major district decisions. Additionally, the group allows students to serve in important leadership roles, while learning powerful lessons about organizational management, operations, governance, civic engagement, and collaborative decision-making.

The purpose of the SHAC is to assist the district in ensuring that local community values are reflected in the district’s coordinated school health related policies, procedures, strategies, and curriculum. The SHAC plays an important role in communicating the connection between health and learning to school administrators, parents, and community stakeholders.

This committee is empaneled as needed to create new attendance boundary zones. The rules for this committee and for developing school attendance boundaries are governed by School Board Policy FC (Local).
[Committee Empaneled Each Decade/Citizens Appointed by Board]
This committee is required every 10 years, following each United States Census. The purpose of this committee is to re-balance the eligible voting age population of each school board trustee single-member election district.

The Board of Trustees can empanel special purpose committees to study specific issues. A recent example was the creation of the high school location committee, in which a group of citizens coordinated a community dialogue on where to build Johnson High School. Look for information and news from the district when special purpose committee opportunities are available.
